“The programme allowed us to take time out of our normal day to focus on building our business and create an environment to learn and fail. It provided the inspiration and encouragement to grow. Now we know what we want to do. Now we have a destination. Before we didn’t. The course has made me want to do better.” "We are thinking more long term. We learnt how to be more proactive than reactive." CSE Evaluation 2025

What was the programme?

Create South East was established to provide high‑quality, relevant, current and discipline‑specific business support for creative enterprises across Kent, Essex, and Sussex.  We are proud to have directly supported 156 companies and engaged with more than 800 organisations. The best way to tell the story of the programme is through the people who shaped it, so we invite you to explore the alumni directory below.

We are grateful for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) funding that enabled the programme’s delivery. As this funding is no longer available to our region, Create South East will not continue in its current form beyond March 2026. Nonetheless, the legacy we have collectively established remains hugely important. Following the conclusion of the programme, the network will continue its work through the South East Creative Economy Network (SECEN).

The creative sector is a vital part of the South East economy. Securing investment into this sector remains a priority, and we will continue to pursue new funding opportunities as they emerge.

To all the businesses, founders and entrepreneurs who participated in the programme, the Create South East partners extend their sincere thanks. We are grateful for your engagement, your creativity and your contribution to the region’s cultural and economic landscape. We encourage you to remain connected and to help shape the next chapter of the South East’s creative community.
